GARFIELD HEIGHTS -- A four-foot alligator was removed from a home Friday morning after authorities were notified of the animal by a neighboring resident.
Upon arriving at the home in the 8900 block of McCracken, the Garfield Heights Animal Warden requested to see the alligator.
A woman at the house took the warden into the basement where the gator was in an aquarium, which is against state law.
The alligator was not registered.
The warden took the alligator to the Ohio Department of Agriculture in Reynoldsburg where its health will be checked.
The gator will be then taken to a rescue facility in South Carolina.
A resident was cited as a result. The family reportedly told the warden the gator has been in the family since it was a baby.
