CLEVELAND – Cleveland police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on the city's west side Monday night.

Police said an officer spotted a stolen Dodge minivan and tried to stop the driver on West 32nd Street. The driver stopped briefly, but when officers approached the vehicle the driver put the car in reverse and nearly hit one of them.

The driver did hit the police cruiser before crashing into a fence and then going after officers again.

Police then fired their weapon at the vehicle. That's when police say the suspect got out of the vehicle and tried to get away on foot. Police eventually caught up to the 22-year-old man and discovered he was shot in the chest. The suspect was taken to the hospital.

Police have not released the suspect's condition. None of the officers involved were hurt.
