CLEVELAND -- Police say no weapon was found in the SUV of a man shot by police during a burglary investigation.
Police were investigating a burglary on December 10 and had information a suspect who was in possession of property from the burglary was on Emery Road.
Police located the car and approached the vehicle. A detective says he shot at the SUV's driver after he saw him lean back in his seat and point a gun at officers.
The man suffered bullet wounds to the neck and shoulder.
On Thursday, the department's Use of Deadly Force Investigation Team executed a search warrant on Hempstead's vehicle and did not find a weapon.
The man has been treated for his injuries at the hospital.
