NORTHFIELD -- The Ohio gambling scene seems to get more crowded by the month. Today the newest addition opened its door -- The Hard Rock Racino Northfield Park. Located next to the Northfield Park Racetrack, this 200,000-square-foot facility is made up of a lot more than just 2,200 slot machines.
Bernie Kosar has opened his first restaurant ever in Northeast Ohio. Kosar's Wood-Fired Grill is an upscale dining experience that the former Browns quarterback says is part of a newly minted Cleveland experience.
"The story of Northeast Ohio growing with the Convention Center and Medical Mart -- all of that downtown -- plus this project? It's really terrific," Kosar told Channel 3. "That said, I am not exactly the best cook in town!"
He's also not the only value add-on to the new Hard Rock facility.
True to the Hard Rock image, more than 200 pieces of rock 'n' roll memorabilia are on display.
"Over $1 million worth of amazing rock antiquity," says Jon Lucas, president of Hard Rock Racino Northfield Park.
There's also a 2,000-seat concert venue -- that Joan Jett inaugurated at a Wednesday night concert and a separate stage for comedians and magicians.
The facility, which was constructed in just one year, employs 750 full- and part-time employees.
