WESTLAKE -- The Westlake Porter Public Library is closed until further notice due to burst pipes.
According to library spokeswoman Elaine Willis, the library had two burst pipes due to recent subzero temperatures.
That has made the fire suppression system inoperable, making it unsafe to open the library to the public.
The library cannot open until the damage is repaired, the fire suppression system is back in operation, and the resulting mess is cleaned up, she said. She did not give a timetable for the library to reopen.
"We apologize for the inconvenience to our community and are working to get back in operation as quickly as possible," library Director Andrew Mangels said in a news release.
Announcements about the library's reopening will be made on the automated answering machine at the main phone number, (440) 871-2600, on the library's website and via the library's Facebook page and Twitter feed.
