Two popular businesses on West Sixth Street in the Warehouse District are now closed.
The Blind Pig closed its doors for good just days ago in addition to Bob Golic's Sports Bar and Grille, which has shut down for renovations until February.
With both businesses suddenly closing their doors for different reasons, people who live and work in the area say they are both concerned and hopeful for the viability of this trendy area.
"To have two very lucrative businesses as they would appear to kind of disappear from the face of West Sixth, is kind of alarming, and it makes you wonder what other businesses may be leaving," said Stephen Munn, a Cleveland resident.
On Facebook, longtime customers continue to post fond memories about The Blind Pig while surrounding bars are hopeful a new fresh face will help fill the gap.
"I always think it's good to bring some new competition in … but I feel like as a whole we work together as a team because we want to bring everybody to the street and make West Sixth a fun hot place to be," said Jessica Joyce with Barley House.
As development continues downtown as well as in The Flats, business owners say West Sixth is still prime real estate, and they are confident the space The Blind Pig left behind won't be empty for long.
