PARMA -- A police spokesman confirms to Channel 3 News there was a fire at the Midtown Towers in Parma.

Fire crews responded to the apartment complex on Broadview Road. A public information officer for the department says the first and second floors of the building were evacuated.

The Parma Fire department responded to 5556 Broadview Road for a call of an apartment fire at approximately 12:50 Friday on the second floor of the Midtown Towers Apartment Complex.

About 20 firefighters from Parma and mutual aid from Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights, Seven Hills, Parma Heights, Independence, and Brook Park were on the scene to put out the fire and help evacuate the six-story, 150-unit building.

One woman, approximately 50 years old, who did not live in the apartment where the fire started, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by Brooklyn Heights EMS for smoke inhalation, and four people were treated for smoke inhalation on the scene and released.

The cause of the fire is being investigated at this time and the total dollar loss is not available at this time.
