BOSTON HEIGHTS - A gas well exploded in the area of Hines Hill and Brandywine Roads Thursday morning.

Jennifer Heisa lives in the area where the explosion happened. She told WKYC that she heard three loud explosions then saw smoke.

Heisa also said that there were crews working in the area of the fire just before the explosion. Heisa says the construction workers told witnesses that "they heard something weird so they ran for their lives."

WKYC is working to find out who the crew is working for.

Authorities have not said whether or not there are injuries.

This happened off Olde Eight Road in Boston Heights just before 11 a.m.

Hines Hill Road was closed between Old Eight and Riverview for almost three hours. The road re-opened just after 2pm.

The flames were shooting 100 feet in the air according to witnesses. Some of the vehicles used by the maintenance workers were destroyed in the fire.

The well sits about 150 feet from the road.

Authorities say the fire is out.

Richfield Police have tweeted out an update saying that multiple fire departments are responding to the scene.
