INDEPENDENCE -- It was a prostitution bust that went awry.
Police on Thursday night had taken one prostitute into custody without incident. But when they tried to take her alleged pimp into custody, he began trying to drive over a couple of Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies to avoid arrest.
"He tried to kill two of our deputies last night, and he'll be charged accordingly," says Cuyahoga County Sheriff Frank Bova,
As of 7 p.m. Friday, police were still trying to located Dwayne Fair, who has been described as armed and dangerous.
Police boxed him in, with one cruiser on each side of him, but he got aggressive fast.
"Two of our deputies got out of their cars and shot at his vehicle, before he hopped on I-77," Bova said. "Our Impact Unit in the field did the right thing by not engaging in a chase. He wasn't an active threat to the public, had a history of chases, and the roads were icy. So, we're still looking for him."
It was one year ago to the day that Fair was caught up in a separate, but nearly identically run sting by Cuyahoga County.
That time he fled police, running into a K-9 vehicle, before escaping arrest. He would later be caught and convicted and put on five years probation.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Anyone with any information on Dwayne Fair's whereabouts is asked to call the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office.
