AKRON -- Police have made an arrest in connection with a string of robberies in which a man asked for a ride to help a family member in need and then allegedly pulled a gun on the unsuspecting driver.

Police arrested Timothy McDonald, 26, in the bathroom of a club on Brittain Road on Friday night. Officers recovered a fake gun in the toilet tank.

McDonald has been charged with two counts of robbery, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

The charges are in relation to an incident on February 13 when a 62-year-old man was robbed of money. Police say the victim had agreed to drive McDonald to the hospital.

A second incident occurred on February 14 where police say a man was robbed after being forced at gunpoint into his car in a gas station parking lot.

The third incident happened on February 14, just hours before McDonald's arrest. Police say a delivery driver had agreed to give McDonald a ride to the hospital to see his father who McDonald claimed had a heart attack. During the ride, police say McDonald pulled a gun. The victim fought over the gun and McDonald jumped from the truck and ran.

He's being held in the Summit County Jail.
