I-90 dealing with gushing water
ROCKY RIVER -- A broken water main shut down traffic on interstate 90 much of the day Saturday causing major traffic delays.
The road was closed for about 8 hours, reopening just after 10 p.m.
According to a Cleveland Water Department spokesperson, a coupling on a 12-inch water main failed causing the break. The 12-inch main runs under the Valley View Road overpass.
When Water Department workers shut the water off, they found several other couplings were damaged. Crews worked to fix all of the damaged couplings throughout the evening.
The eastbound lanes were closed for several hours but have since reopened. The westbound lanes were then closed for another 3-4 hours for repairs.
