VERMILION -- Residents are paying very close attention to upcoming weather forecasts as they continue cleanup efforts.

Last week's flooding left massive chunks of ice in the neighborhood along the Vermilion River.

Both cold and warm weather will have a role in how cleanup efforts proceed.

Many of those who live along the river's banks say they continue to stay in the area because the summer makes it worth living through the winter.

City officials say ice breakers are on standby to move into the area if necessary.

They're monitoring the weather for the right conditions.
