AVON LAKE-- Ford has announced it will shift production of two medium-duty truck models from Mexico to the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake.

Ford and UAW executives made the announcement at the plant Friday morning.

The move is part of a $168 million dollar investment by the company and makes good on a pledge Ford made with union leaders in 2011.

The plant currently makes the E-series cargo and passenger van for Ford. The van is the country's best selling and has been produced in Avon Lake for 40 years but Ford is ending production of that vehicle. The plant will now be used to build the F-650 and F-750 truck models.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas gave credit to the workers at the plant for their loyalty and commitment to Ford and its products. "the enduring hard work and dedication of this team is admirable. Ford is committed to you for the long term."
