FREMONT -- The identities of those killed in Wednesday's fatal crash on the Ohio Turnpike have been released.

Those who died in the crash, which involved many vehicles, include Hannah Matheny, 20, of Parma; Grzegorz Piwowarczyk, 42, of Palatine, Ill.; and Janice Robb, 66, of Schereville, Ind.

Matheny was a passenger in a Ford Focus, Piwowarczyk was driving a tractor-trailer and Robb was a passenger in a Chevy Venture.

Authorities say State Highway Patrol trooper Andrew Clouser, 29, of the Milan post, was seriously hurt when he became pinned between two vehicles while on scene of the crash site, which spanned a two-mile-long stretch.

Clouser is in the intensive care unit at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. His injuries are reportedly to his abdomen and lower extremities. He has been with the Highway Patrol for a little more than a year.

The chain-reaction crashes, which began at 1:25 p.m., involved dozens of vehicles in the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike in the area of mileposts 101 and 102.

As a result, the Ohio Turnpike was closed in both directions for several hours, and traffic was rerouted.

The westbound lanes were reopened by 10 p.m. Wednesday following crashes near milepost 112 in Erie County, but travel remains slow for eastbound drivers as authorities are intermittently closing various lanes.

The crash remains under investigation.
