Officials say he opened fire while being served with a warrant
MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS -- The man who was shot and killed by Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday after a law enforcement official says he opened fire while being served with a warrant has been identified.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner says the man is Israel Rondon, 65, of Middleburg Heights.
Deputies say he was involved in a shooting with deputies on the rear porch of his home at 15445 Sheldon Road.
On Tuesday afternoon, deputies were at that address in Middleburg Heights to serve Rondon with a warrant for felonious assault on a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon violations.
According to officials, Rondon opened fire and deputies returned fire, killing him.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigations is looking into the incident.
A spokeswoman for Attorney General Mike DeWine's office says their special investigation team was at the scene.
