The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash in Madison Township.

SANDUSKY COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle crash in Madison Township. It happened on U.S. 6 just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Officials say a 52-year-old woman from Defiance, Ohio sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Saint Vincent's Hospital. The woman was driving a Chevy Aveo when she tried to pass a semi-truck in the eastbound lane on U.S. 6.

Another semi-truck was traveling in the westbound lane at the time the Aveo attempted to pass. The semi-truck in the eastbound lane and Chevy Aveo both ended up in the ditch.The semi-truck traveling westbound ran off the north side U.S. 6.

U.S. 6 was closed for approximately six hour after the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. State Patrol says alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
