BATH TOWNSHIP --The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a suspicious package was left at a rest stop on I-77 southbound in Summit County.

According to troopers, an unidentified woman left a suspicious package in the grassy area of the rest area labeled ATF Akron. The woman approached a truck driver and told him to notify authorities about the package.

The woman left the rest area in a green, older model mini-van.

Officers from Bath Township PD, OSHP, the Summit County Sheriff's Bomb Unit and ATF responded to the scene after the truck driver called 911 regarding the package.

The bomb unit retrieved the package which contained maps, books and paper items but no hazardous material. The rest area was evacuated and closed for about two hours while the situation was handled. It reopened around noon.
