AKRON -- A school was placed on lockdown Friday morning, according to police, because of the actions of a parent.

Police say that, about 8:30 a.m., officers responded to Glover Elementary School, at 935 Hammel Street, for an irate, out-of-control parent.

The parent, Jessica Smallwood, 26, of Akron, refused to check in at the office.

Police say that Smallwood is accused of then assaulting the principal, a teacher and a cafeteria worker, then refusing to leave.

Responding officers took Smallwood into custody and charged her with two counts of felonious assault on the principal and teacher, assault on the cafeteria worker and criminal trespassing.

Smallwood was booked into the Summit County Jail.

During the incident, the school was temporarily placed on lockdown, police said.
