AKRON -- The Summit County Sheriff says a driver has been identified and arrested after two people were struck in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant last month. One of the victims was a Summit County deputy.
Artemus Blanding, 23, of Bedford Heights has been charged with one count of attempted aggravated murder, two counts of felonious assault and one count of aggravated vehicular assault. Blanding is being held in the Summit County Jail. His bond is set at $250,000, 10%.
A University of Akron student and the deputy were hit just before 3 a.m. on April 13 while in the parking lot of a McDonald's at East Exchange Street in Akron. Both were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The incident was captured on surveillance video.
