WKYC will be on the scene Sunday evening as Mariah Riley and her family see their newly made-over home for the first time
AKRON -- The LeBron James Family Foundation will reveal the renovated home of Mariah Riley Sunday evening to Mariah and her family.
Contractors have been working around the clock for a full week to completely redo the landscaping in the front and back yards, the deck and the inside of the home.
Riley has been in LeBron's education program since it started here in Akron. She will be graduating from high school in 2021-- that is the goal of this program. Since being in the program her grades have gone up.
Because of Mariah's success in the classroom and her excellent attendance, the foundation chose her home for a makeover on HGTV.
Vice President of Metis Construction Steven Brandle discusses the renovations, challenges and rewards of helping the Lebron James Family Foundation makeover the home of a deserving Akron family.
Akron businesses and people have donated their time and money to complete the renovation for Riley's home.
HGTV film crews are also on hand and will be airing the complete reveal later this fall.
However WKYC will be there tonight to see the look on Riley's face as they arrive at their new home.
"That house was unsafe to live in for a third grader," said Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation. "Riley is one of our best students and a very deserving girl."
Manager of LeBron James' estate Jack Plas tells WKYC's Wale Aliyu what made Mariah Riley such an exceptional student and why her family was selected to have their home renovated by the LeBron James Family Foundation.
