AKRON -- The Akron man accused of kicking a cat, which was captured on video, was expected to be sentenced at 10 a.m. Friday.

But authorities say he never showed up to court.

As of noon Friday, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Earlier this month, Tre'vonte Mitchell pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.

The charges came after video of the cat-kicking incident was shared through social media.

Mitchell faces six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Investigators state that Mitchell is very remorseful for his actions and was cooperative with authorities after his arrest.

It's believed the cat was a stray.
