JEFFERSON -- McDonald's is celebrating the grand opening of its Jefferson store by giving away free Big Macs for a year to the first 50 customers.
The grand opening will be 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at the store at 104 N. Chestnut St.
The brand-new energy-efficient built restaurant has a double drive-through open 24 hours a day, two flat screen TVs inside the lobby and a lighted table for playing games.
The building cost $1.6 million to build and was completed in 75 days. The new restaurant honors the town's beautiful historical sites with a mural featuring the town's historical landmarks and a picture of the town's covered bridge etched in glass.
"We can not wait to share this state-of-the-art, family friendly and exciting new restaurant with the entire Jefferson community and all visitors to the area," said John Perdue, owner-operator.
"This is not only a wonderful place to dine and have a good time, but it's also a business that will be providing many new jobs and making a positive economic impact benefiting the entire community," added Michelle Perdue, John's wife and business partner.
