CLEVELAND -- One year ago, three women were murdered in the early spring, just weeks apart, along E. 93rd Street near Bessemer Avenue here.

To date, police have been unable to solve the deaths of Jazmine Trotter, 20; Christine Malone, 45; and Ashley Leszyeski, 21.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, community leaders, including Cleveland City Council members Zack Reed and Mamie Mitchell, joined neighborhood activists and concerned residents in remembrance of the three women and plead to anyone with information to either of the three murders to contact Cleveland Police.

"Despite all the attention drawn to the unfortunate death of these three women we still do not have a suspect in custody," said Councilman Reed.

"We will gather this evening to remember these women, to again ask for anyone with information to come forward, and to stress the importance of improving the conditions of our neighborhoods. We must do more to bring down vacant properties and improve security measures in our communities so our loved ones are safe when they walk their own neighborhoods."
