Police officer and another driver taken to hospital after pickup truck rear ends police car
CLEVELAND -- A pickup truck struck the back end of a police car early Sunday morning, causing an injury to the officer inside the car as well as the pickup driver.
Around 4 a.m., the officer was assisting with a prior accident, with the squad car stopped on Fulton Road at the I-71 South exit ramp.
A 54-year-old white male in a 1997 Ford Ranger was traveling northbound, when he struck the rear of the police car.
Both the officer and the other driver were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for injuries. Both were treated and released.
Alcohol may be a possible factor, but police are awaiting results from hospital testing.
Detectives from the Accident Investigation Unit are still investigating.
No one has been arrested at this time.
