CLEVELAND -- Police have released information regarding a hit-skip accident about 7 p.m. Wednesday night involving Police Chief Calvin Williams.

Police say that Williams was driving his personal car westbound on Chester Avenue when another car swerved into his lane.

That car struck his vehicle, stopped for a moment, then drove off, according to police.

Police found the driver and the car at 1905 East 55th Street and the driver was changing a tire. Cleveland EMS was called to check the driver for a heart condition.

The driver was cited for failure to stop at an accident.

Williams was not injured.
