CLEVELAND -- A man underwent surgery early Thursday morning after authorities say he was shot by a Cleveland police officer.
It happened late Wednesday in the area of E. 147th Street and Lakeshore Boulevard.
According to police, a female had approached officers to report a domestic dispute. When they responded, police say they found a man with four knives.
After reportedly refusing to put the knives, police say the man came at them.
That's when an officer opened fire.
One witness, who did not want to be identified, said the suspect told police, "You might as well shoot me."
The suspect was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Witnesses say the man was shot in the leg, but police have not confirmed those details.
The suspect's name has not been released.
