Every new kindergarten student in the county will receive a $100 college savings account
CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County is the only county in the country that has established a college savings account for every new kindergarten student and will announce this at a news conference Tuesday.
The legislation was signed in to law last year by county Executive Ed FitzGerald.
Each student entering kindergarten in Cuyahoga County will have a $100 college savings account set up.
FitzGerald will be joined at Tuesday's press conference by Lisa Oliver, market president of KeyBank, and Bob Mengerink, superintendent of the Cuyahoga County Educational Service Center, as well as a kindergarten parent who will discuss what this initiative means for her family.
