Police here were able to catch a Cleveland Heights driver in Avon Lake who was arrested for allegedly striking a bicyclist.

BAY VILLAGE -- Police here were able to catch a Cleveland Heights driver in Avon Lake and arrested her for allegedly striking a bicyclist.

Police say that, just before 9 a.m. Friday, several 911 callers reported that a silver, 2-door vehicle struck a bicyclist on Walker Road near Plymouth and then drove off westbound on Walker Road.

Police here and from Avon Lake responded to the scene.

The 27-year-old victim was quickly taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Officers began searching the area for the vehicle and located it parked and occupied on Leeward in Avon Lake.

After speaking with the driver, 29, from Cleveland Heights, officers suspected she had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered and as a result, she was taken into custody.

She will face charges at Rocky River Municipal Court.
