CLEVELAND -- A 4-year-old shot in the leg at a playground has neighbors asking for more help from city leaders and police.

"We are human beings, we need help, so we are safe," says Jeff Goodwin, a neighbor.

The child was shot outside of East Clark School on East 146th Street, and neighbors says the area has been plagued by gunshots and unruly teens lately.

They report hearing alarms going off at the school several times a day, and teens breaking bottles on the playground.

Gang activity has picked up in the areas, according to school officials. The district does have mobile police patrols and plans to investigate what is happening at the school.

Neighbors want more of a police presence and city leaders to come up with a plan to reduce violence in the city.
