CLEVELAND -- The 2016 Republican National Convention is giving some Downtown Cleveland development projects a fast-approaching deadline.

We start with the long-discussed Pedestrian Bridge proposed to span the Shoreway with a parking garage in the middle. The purpose is to connect folks to upcoming Lakefront development. The bridge will start near the Cleveland Convention Mall area and connect near the Great Lakes Science Center.

"To have that easy access for pedestrians and safety, it would be a good thing," said Zino Kirby.

Jeremy Paris with the Group Plan Commission says the city, county and state have pledged $25 million. The project is still seeking private and philanthropic funds, putting this project in the "middle" phase.

The next project we looked at was the Cleveland Skylift, an aerial cable car system with digital entertainment inside. The grand plan is to have 14 stations around Cleveland, one being near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

"I think that would be cool, that would be good," said former Clevelander Jon Jones.

Matt Volosin with LeanDog Inc. said the plan is backed by local and national developers, Dick Pace and Trammell Crow, as well as the Port of Cleveland.

The project is still seeking private funds and a foundation to guarantee it, putting the project in the "beginning" phase.

Finally, we looked at the Hofbrauhaus, a 400-year old German institution under construction around the historic Hermit Club. It is one of four set to open around the country this year. The project is in the "final" phase with its door expected to open in the fall.

"It's great for the city, CSU, Playhouse Square, it's the second largest district in the U.S., I think it's awesome," said Kurt Thomas who works across the street.

All the projects hope to be completed by 2016.
