CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Community Outreach coordinator Darren Toms said Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brian Corrigan "continues to weigh the evidence in the trial of Harry Jacob III. Judge Corrigan has indicated that his verdict will likely be rendered in about two weeks."

Closing arguments were heard late Tuesday in the trial.

Although Corrigan dismissed several counts on Tuesday, Jacob still faces 11 criminal counts.

On Tuesday, Corrigan dismissed bribery and dereliction of duty charges -- and seven other charges -- in Jacob's bench trial, according to common pleas court records.

The dismissal of the bribery charge -- alleging that Jacob had sex with a Studio 54 prostitute in exchange for leniency on a traffic ticket -- and the other charges came after Jacob's attorney Kevin Spellacy asked Corrigan to dismiss all charges.

Also dismissed were promoting prostitution and dereliction of duty charges, after Spellacy and David Grant said prosecutors failed to show enough evidence.

The bench trial, which began last Wednesday, ended without the defense calling any witnesses and final arguments were over late Tuesday.

Jacob, 57, of Solon, still faces 11 other criminal counts, including several counts of soliciting sex from prostitutes, tampering with records, failure to report a felony, possessing criminal tools, obstruction of justice and falsification.

Studio 54 was in the Walsh Professional Building on Northfield Road in Bedford. It was a "massage parlor" that engaged in prostitution. Owner James Walsh has pleaded not guilty to prostitution charges.

On Nov. 19, Jacob took a medical leave of absence from the court right after investigators form the prosecutor's office served search warrants at Bedford Municipal Court. In December, the Ohio Supreme Court suspended Jacob from the bench but he is still drawing his $114,000 salary.
