GARFIELD HEIGHTS -- Cleveland Metroparks will begin work Thursday on the latest phase of a new trail that will connect two of its parks as well as the cities of Cuyahoga Heights and Garfield Heights.

The Mill Creek Trail will link the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cuyahoga Heights with the Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights.

The 1.1-mile trail will include a 150-foot pedestrian bridge spanning Mill Creek, a 1,100-foot switchback to offset the steep elevation change, a dramatic overlook of Valley View and scenic views of some of the best preserved sections of Mill Creek, one of the largest tributaries of the Cuyahoga River.

The ADA-accessible trail, with opportunities for cycling, walking, hiking, running and other recreational opportunities, is expected to be completed in late summer 2015.
