CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland man has been arrested following an accident that left a motorcycle rider dead early Monday.
Leslie Maldonado, 43, will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide once he is released from MetroHealth Medical Center, according to police, and OVI charges are expected once hospital test results become available.
According to police, Maldonado was driving his 1999 Toyota Camry northbound on Fulton Road near Storer Avenue about 1:10 a.m. when he turned left in front of a motorcycle.
He collided with the motorcycle, a 1995 Harley-Davidson, critically injuring the 25-year-old male driver.
According to police, Maldonado left the scene without assisting the motorcycle rider but was detained by bystanders.
According to police, Maldonado, who was highly intoxicated, was arrested at the scene.
The motorcycle rider was taken to MetroHealth, where he was pronounced dead.
The Cuyahoga County medical examiner's office will determine the final cause of death and identify the victim once family is notified.
