MIDDLEFIELD TOWNSHIP -- The Geauga County Sheriff and Middlefield police received calls just after midnight Sunday that a man was on the street trying to give away a small boy.

Middlefield Police and Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland said that the man, now identified as Seth Malko, 21, was at the corner of Hayes and Kinsman roads in Middlefield just before 12:30 a.m. Monday and was trying to give the boy away.

Police say Malko had apparently entered an unlocked apartment and removed the 2-year-old.

Another 9-1-1 call sent police to an apartment where Malko was holding the boy.

Police officers who talked with Malko said he was delusional and admitted to recreational narcotics use.

The boy was returned to parents unharmed.

Police said the parents never even knew the boy was missing.

Police say Malko is charged with third-degree felony burglary and second-degree felony kidnapping with a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
