EASTLAKE -- Police here had an early morning situation on their hands.
Just before 3 a.m. Thursday, officers on patrol saw a vehicle traveling on Vine Street westbound at a high rate of speed.
They saw the driver of the vehicle lose control and drive over a curb into a Walgreen's parking lot, striking several metal fences and a brick pillar before continuing onto state Route 91 northbound.
The driver then drove over the median on 91 and began traveling northbound in the southbound lanes.
Police were able to stop the cars at SR 91 and Stevens Boulevard.
As officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle turned onto Stevens, rolling slowly until it came to a rest near E 349th Street.
The vehicle sustained a flat tire and damage to the front end.
The driver, a resident, 24, was arrested and charged with OVI, hit-skip and several other traffic violations.
His Breathalyzer test score was .194, more than twice the .08 limit.
