EASTLAKE -- A Willowick woman said she was just trying to shorten her commute home when her car got stuck on the railroad tracks and trains had to be halted.

Police here say that just after 3 a.m.Tuesday, they received a call that a vehicle was stopped on the R/R tracks on East 361st Street and no one was in it.

Police arrived and found the vehicle locked, still running, with one tire spinning freely.

The driver was nowhere to be found.

CSX was notified to stop all trains until a tow truck could remove the vehicle from the tracks. A short time later, while the car was being removed from the tracks, the vehicle owner, a Willowick woman, 24, returned to the scene.

She told police she bypassed all "road closed" signs in an attempt to shorten her commute home.

She was cited for driving on a closed road by Eastlake police and also Willowick police for a violation in their city.
