EASTLAKE -- One man turned his rage from the woman he was attacking to the police officer who responded to her call for help.

Just before midnight Thursday, officers responded to a domestic situation in the 1300 block of E 340th Street.

Upon arrival, a woman was heard yelling for help and then what sounded like either a punch or a slap.

As the officer opened the door, the woman was pushed through the doorway by the man with the man charging after her, according to police.

The woman was able to run to safety as the officer stepped between her and the man.

Police said the man then turned his anger on the officer and immediately began to fight.

Ronald Cesa, 46, was subdued and was taken into custody and charged with felony domestic violence and felony assault on a police officer.

He is being held on $100,000 cash bond.

Friday morning, Cesa began a 45-day commitment at the Lake County Jail after being sentenced from an incident that occurred in March where Cesa chased a female down Vine Street, brandishing a machete.
