Alcohol believe to be a factor in the crash

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A man and a woman were hospitalized after their car went over a 70-foot cliff in Painesville Township.

The accident happened on Sunday around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Beachfront Dr.

The passenger, 31-year-old Ashley Cusick, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by Painesville Township Fire Department. Rescue crews then hoisted Cusick up the steep embankment.

Both Cusick and the driver, 26-year-old Michael Brownell, from Madison Township, were taken to TriPointe Medical Center for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
