EATON TOWNSHIP -- A Lorain County man who held his 10 month old baby hostage was taken into custody Thursday night.

The stand off started around 3:30 p.m. and lasted 6 hours in Eaton Township.

The sheriff's department says the man's family was key to ending the stand off peacefully.

A neighbor says 40 year old John Bragg started yelling at cars and people who didn't exist.

When police arrived Bragg ran inside an RV and then into the house with his 10 month old son.

SWAT tied to call him but he wouldn't pickup the phone.

They used a robot from the bomb squad to drop off a cell phone. They also had his wife and parents try to get him to surrender.

His family told police that this kind of behavior is completely out of Bragg's character.

Captain Jim Drozdowski with the Lorain County Sheriff's Department says the baby is doing well, he's with his mother.

Bragg was taken to the hospital where he underwent a psychiatric evaluation.
