A passing motorist informed the Highway Patrol, who was on scene within one minute

CARLISLE TOWNSHIP -- A man has been hospitalized after he drove his pickup truck into a Lorain County house Thursday morning.

Nicholas Hill, 48, of Elyria had exited a local business just seconds before striking the house at on state Route 57 near Waterfall Drive at 7:35 a.m., according to the State Highway Patrol.

A passing motorist informed the Highway Patrol, who was on scene within one minute.

The patrol arrived to find the back of the truck and several bushes in front of the home on fire.

Hill was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and then transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The homeowner, who was in the home at the time of the crash, was not injured.

Hill's truck, a 1999 Ford Ranger, was towed from the scene.

The home sustained heavy damage but was never on fire, according to the patrol.

The patrol does not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
