ELYRIA -- A new campaign is underway in Lorain County to raise awareness about prostate cancer.

Statistics from the National Cancer Institute show that so far this year there are more than 230,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States. The disease affects men and often times it's an issue they're afraid to talk about.

The Men to Men Prostate Cancer Support Group are forming the 'Blue Band of Brotherhood,' wearing blue wristbands in hopes of starting an open dialogue with strangers about cancer.

"What we're trying to do is educate men and let them know it's not a death sentence," says Survivor and Support Group Founder Ray Noble.

They meet the second Saturday of the month at Mercy Cancer Center in Elyria at 41201 Schadden Road.

For more information contact the facility at 440-324-0480.
