ELYRIA -- Two OVI checkpoints will be held in Lorain County tonight, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The federally funded checkpoints are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoints will run from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Lorain Boulevard and Foster Avenue and Cleveland Street near Harwood Street.

In addition to the checkpoints, patrols will be stepped up in the surrounding areas.

The State Highway Patrol asks that if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
