ELYRIA -- Police say a store clerk has been shot at a Circle K on North Abbe Road in Elyria just before 3 a.m. Thursday.

The male store clerk had been smoking a cigarette when two people approached him, one of which was brandishing a handgun, according to authorities.

The clerk tried to run back into the store and lock the door. A struggle took place and the clerk was shot in the stomach.

Police say they're looking for two possible suspects who robbed the clerk. Officials say the men wore masks over their faces at the time of the robbery. The suspects ran away from the scene and remain at-large.

The victim was taken via LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center and immediately rushed into surgery. His condition is in unknown.

One suspect was described as 5'8'' tall, slender build and was last seen wearing a gray sweat jacket, light colored pants and a white mask. The other suspect was described as a white male, 6'0'' tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing a red hoodie.
