Early estimates indicate a high EF-1 or low EF-2
BRUNSWICK -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Brunswick on Monday evening.
Much of the damage happened in the area of Andrea Drive and Royal Oak Drive. At least four homes suffered significant damage from the storm.
Early estimates say the tornado was most likely a high EF-1 or EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
Some residents say the city did not issue any advance warning of the coming storm. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service was in effect at the time.
Shelter is available at the Brunswick Recreation Center at 3637 Center Road to give displaced residents a place to stay overnight. Residents are asked to bring a sleeping bag.
The National Weather Service will be out in Brunswick on Tuesday to give a final determination.
