CHATHAM TOWNSHIP -- The Ohio Highway Patrol investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred just before 5 p.m. today on U.S. 42 at the intersection of Vandemark Road.

Cory M. Chaplin, 23, of Litchfield, was driving a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron southbound on Vandemark and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 42.

Gregory L. Kemp, 58, of Berea, was driving a 2005 Ford F-750 westbound on U.S. 42. Troopers say the crash occurred when Chaplin pulled into the intersection and was struck broadside by Kemp. Both vehicles continued west and came to rest in the median.

Chaplin sustained fatal injuries from the crash. He was taken to Medina General Hospital by the Chatham Township EMS where he was pronounced dead.

Kemp sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lodi Community Hospital.
