The Innerbelt Bridge project hit another milestone Saturday. The new bridge is now open to traffic and some new entrance ramps opened along with it.
The Ontario Road entrance ramp is the first to open. This entrance does not allow access to I-71 yet.
Be sure to watch for new traffic patterns as construction continues.
This is the first of many traffic changes that will happen as the new bridge is put to full use which is expected sometime in November.
This is the largest project so far for ODOT.
The bridge will replace a span built in 1959. The structure will carry traffic in both directions for now. A twin bridge scheduled for completion in 2016 will be built to carry eastbound traffic. Eventually the old bridge span will be demolished.
