CLEVELAND -- The nation is seeing a ton of stories this week with the dateline of Cleveland, Ohio.

National coverage of Cleveland landing the Republican National Convention and the suspense surrounding LeBron's possible return are giving the city a double dose of the media spotlight.

Cleveland City Hall communications Chief Maureen Harper monitors mainstream and social media coverage of all things Cleveland.

Today she''s seeing an explosion of Cleveland mentions on social media about LeBron. That follows a wave of stories about Cleveland beating Dallas for the Republican "Super Bowl" in 2016.

NBC has two crews currently here on Cleveland-themed stories.

Reporter Kevin Tibbles is shooting a piece on Cleveland's new energy and resurgence, tentatively to air on Meet the Press. Reporter Jenna Wolfe is hear to cover the city being held enthralled waiting for LeBron's decision.

Many of this week's newspaper stories do mention the burning Cuyahoga River, the rust-belt image and the more recent Ariel Castro horror story.

But Positively Cleveland's David Gilbert says, thankfully, most stories now talk about those events as ancient history, contrasting with the downtown building boom and new enthusiasm surrounding the city.
