CLEVELAND -- A man wanted for allegedly kidnapping his son more than 18 years ago from the state of Maryland may now be in the Ohio region, the FBI says.
Authorities released a picture locally on Friday of Reuben Bennett Blackwell II in hopes the public may help locate him. The FBI did not indicate what part of Ohio they believe Blackwell may be in.
The FBI says Blackwell allegedly abducted his son from Clinton (Prince George's County), Maryland on May 6, 1996. Authorities say he fled the state to avoid arrest and to obstruct the lawful exercise of parental custody held by the boy's mother.
His son was 3 years old at the time.
At the time he fled, Blackwell was described as a black man, about 6'4" tall, weighing around 270 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair with gray at his temples.
Authorities warn that Blackwell should be considered armed and dangerous. In the past, the FBI says Blackwell has threatened to harm himself and his son.
