ATHENS, Ohio -- Just after 5 p.m., Ohio University Police said that they have finished the search of East Green and no evidence of a shooting or an ongoing threat has been found.
East Green has been reopened.
Just after 3 p.m. today, word was there had been a possible shooting at Ohio University, according to the school's Twitter account.
According to the post, about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the shooting was reported near Gamersfelder Hall on the Athens campus.
Students and others on campus were instructed to avoid the building and evacuate the area.
About 4:20 p.m., however, the university tweeted that it had found no evidence of a shooting near the hall and was expanding the search area to include all of the East Green.
Students under evacuation were being asked to go to Alden Library, Baker University Center or Nelson Court.
