AURORA -- Aurora police are looking for your help in finding out who is responsible for shooting a resident's dog by Aurora Lake.

Here's what happened.

Just after 3:30 p.m. March 13, police received a call from an Aurora Lake neighborhood resident who reported that he discovered his dog, Dakota, a 12-year-old Husky, unconscious in Aurora Lake, shot three times in the chest.

The resident took Dakota to the Aurora Veterinary Clinic where Dakota was x-rayed and three bullets and some fragments were removed. Unfortunately, Dakota died.

They were turned over to the Aurora Police Department and delivered to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for processing,

The case remains open with ongoing investigation and pending BCI results.

Because of the close proximity of this incident to Liberty Park, the Summit Metro Parks rangers were notified.

The family is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
